Hi
I am getting a new car (second Hand ) and i need to apply for 50% of vehicle tax, but the old car has got that already and I will cancel that tax, but my statement of entitlement has a stamp on from the DVLA and the registration number of the old car, stating that reduction was applied to the old car.
So how do I change it over, anybody got an idea? Just send in documents and hope?
Thanks

For the old car you will be able to claim back any full months. With 50% reduction the vehicle isn’t registered as disabled anyway, so it makes no difference.

You just need to send all your documents to claim the reduction on your new vehicle.

    Hi all,

I applied for and received the 50% reduction on my ved last year and then in April, changed the registration for one I bought for my wife and all went through with DVLA smoothly. Nothing was mentioned regarding the 50% entitlement so I assumed it had transferred to the new number. I've just checked on DVLA's website and my VED renewal in August is the full amount again. Do I need to send off all of the docs and re-apply like I did last year or will the reminder come through with the 50% automatically applied? Many thanks in advance.

    Hi,

You need to apply for the 50% reduction each year.

It does not renew each year like the 100% reduction does.

Thank you very much. I did wonder if that was the case but very grateful to you for confirming it. Thanks again.
