I will not be on the forum for a few days as I have family stuff to deal with, but I will be interested to see any comments from members when I return. Thank you.

Thank you @Bluebell21, we always appreciate constructive support and feedback. I’m sorry to read you won’t be around after starting this discussion but I wish you all the best with your family stuff.

With the results so far, I think most of us would agree that there is a lot of discussion on benefits reforms and politics at the moment, and that it can be overwhelming. But, as the proposals impact almost all of our members, it is understandable that it is the main topic on everyone’s mind right now. I would not want anyone to feel discouraged from sharing their views or continuing to fight and campaign for financial security and their future.

That said, if you are finding the political discussions too much, remember we have our coffee lounge, games den and you are always welcome to make a new discussion on any topic or theme you fancy!

Do you have any politically minded flowers; what about the blackbird, is he going to lose his PIP?

My maternal grandmother used to use a similar expression.

Anyway, politics at home is a sure-fire way to start a fight. My brother is 500 miles away, and that is just fine with me!

Presumably that's a fruit PIP he was saving for winter? His nest wasn't big enough to qualify for WHD last year… 🧐

On a serious note, I do think there's too much political discussion on here. Most of it is completely pointless as well, because we don't know exactly what changes will happen. Many people are upsetting themselves with scenarios that may never happen, and upsetting others who read the threads as well.

Of course, freedom of speech allows people to post whatever they want. And we also have the freedom to scroll past those threads, which I generally do myself. So I'm not sure we should be dictating to anyone about what they can or can't post, particularly on a forum that is meant to be all inclusive.

I like helping people and try to offer tailored benefits advice on here as much as I can. I have also received plenty of benefits advice on here in the past. For me, this forum is mostly about benefits.

I'm sure most have noticed I don't really 'do' emotional support or sympathy. For the members that are looking for that, there are plenty of others on here who can offer it.

There are some very prominent forum team members who I could name easily, and I'm sure other frequent forum users could do the same. Some offer good benefits advice, others are better at the emotional support. I must admit I do miss some of the previous members, both team and volunteer, but that's life, people come and go in all areas… 🙂

I agree with you, and we know so little as yet. I'm as guilty as the next person when it comes to replying though!

All this business about unemployment insurance being a perfect example. Yes it's in the 'Pathways To Work' consultation, but it hopefully won't see the light of day. Worrying oneself sick about it is futile.

I find this poll really quite badly designed - it's like it's designed to ask questions but instead it presents options - where "too much politics" should be a yes/no but instead it's yes only.....

If people aren't happy about politics etc then this just becomes another bookface, Random letter, photostagram, nextdoor.

I'll be honest, attitudes like that is what puts me off from posting. I avoid face ache etc for good reason (my mental health and to avoid arguments / bigotry - which sadly ive seen here and comments like 'we cut our suit to match our cloth" sounds too reminiscent of DWP / Unum/right wing media talking points about strivers Vs skivers, scroungers etc. I come to scope for people who go through the same struggles but instead I often leave wondering how many "entryists" are here to spy or push the right wing agenda and provide convenient talking points for politicians and right wing media......

That's how I live and always have my comment should garner the same respect I give to your comment sadly in today's society people take offence at the slightest thing unless it is within there own narrative I am an older generation and listen to both sides of a story not one

Is it right to name call MP's whatever their party?

I don't feel like it has too much Political/benefit discussions, it's mainly what I read on here and it keeps me up to date with what's happening. I don't want to read/watch msm to keep up to date because a lot of it can be scaremongering and twisting things, it's hard to know what to trust.

And I think it's fine to name call MP's if they deserve it. In fact Starmer, Reeves, and Kendall actually deserve a lot more than just being called names. Name calling is nothing compared to what they're putting us though and what they will end up putting us through if their plans happen.

I think that there should be separate areas for each separate topic. For example there should be an area where people can post anything political related whether it's to name and shame any MP no matter what party they belong to, there also be a separate area for people who need help and advice about benefits.

Areas like the coffee lounge should be for like sharing posts about anything except for the areas that have already got a separate forum area.
