    Hi, Just want to warn people about to claim UC about the importance of getting the " activation date " correct for your claim. If you choose a wrong date as i did, many months later you could end up in rent arrears despite being fully up to date with your payments.

    To my horror i've just found out from my housing association that in total these " technical arrears " amount to £560 to be paid over the next 3 yrs. £120 for unavoidable arrears during transition period ( already paid ) with £440 still outstanding.

    It's all to do with the legally binding date of the month the rent is due, and when you actually pay it.
