Hello im moving house in 2 weeks im currently on esa but i know i will be changed to UC when I move.

The question iis when ive moved who do I ring to tell them ive moved to transfer my claim over im on severe disability premium and pip so I know im protected with a transitional payment so thats good.

Do I ring esa to say ive moved house or do I just straight up ring UC and say I need to make a claim, do I ring housing benefits for a new claim or do I just make a straight up claim for UC. Will it all be transferred over with being protected with my new rent taken into consideration?

After you move you need to make a claim for Universal Credit, with your rent amount.

You can claim online, this gives you access to an online account known as the Journal.

A claim by phone doesn't give you a Journal to use in future.

Then your Income Related ESA and Housing Benefit will be replaced by Universal Credit. The work is all done by the various departments behind the scenes, once you submit the claim.

Edited, advice incorrect after further information.

Thankyou for your response we did get a migration letter last week however we left it as we knew we was moving. Will this affect anything with the new claim?

Also can you ask to be paid twice a month instead of a month with having autism and adhd with past addiction issues if I see all that money in my account I will spend it.

Also "You can get monthly additional amounts if you are entitled to severe disability premium transitional protection" is what I seen on the turn 2 us page. I get the enhanced disability premium because I am on enhanced pip daily living and mobility so does that mean I will get the extra payment

PIP has no impact on a UC claim.

Because you get SDP with your ESA then that qualifies you for Transitional Protection.

As you've now got a migration notice this changes my advice. You can disregard the link I gave.

You can use this notice after you move to apply through managed migration, although I'm not sure how your Transitional Protection will be calculated if your rent changes from migration notice to applying at new address.

Transitional Protection is added if your total UC award is lower than legacy benefits. This erodes over time as other elements go up or new elements are added. Effectively your payment is frozen until the usual non TP rates catch up with your award.

Yes you can ask for an Alternative Payment Arrangement to be paid twice a month.

You'll receive half your payment on a fixed date (linked to when you applied) unless that date falls on a weekend or bank holiday, if so it's paid on the preceeding working day.

Your second payment will follow 14-15 days later on a varying date.

I'm not sure if this starts in the second month of your claim or from the beginning.

Perfect thank you. Will this apply to me

You can get monthly additional amounts if you are entitled to severe disability premium transitional protection Could if you received the enhanced disability premium in your legacy benefits - 130.22 on top of the transitional protection payment. As I do get the enhanced disability premium on my esa claim

Because you receive the Severe Disability Premium with your ESA, and are moving to UC via managed migration, your Transitional Protection amount will be based on your total previous legacy benefits.

The Severe Disability Premium Transitional Protection fixed amounts only apply to those moving to UC via Natural Migration (change of circumstances).

You have received a letter so are moving to UC via Managed Migration.

See this thread for an example of UC award when migrating from ESA with SDP through a letter and how TP is calculated.

My alternative payment arrangement started straight away. I requested it on my journal as soon as I submitted my claim and it was confirmed when I had my ID check.

Won't the change off address automatically flag as a change of circumstance anyway? I too have been given a house via a different local authority for a extra bedroom due to medical needs. So my rent will be £70 more expensive a week, which is a considerable change of circumstance.
