Payment in lieu of notice

Hi everyone

Apologies for posting again with the same subject, a very kind lady helped me before but I am unable to find the post.

My husband was dismissed from his job of 25 years on grounds of capability, this was due to my increased care needs and not because he is unwell.

We started claiming Universal credit in May and currently receive the following.

£617. 60 standard allowance £429.35 housing £198.31 carer £416.19 lwcra my husband receives a military pension so £299.00 is deducted from the above monthly

My husband received a final payment from his work of £4197.23 yesterday, this consisted of unpaid hours, holiday pay, post employment notice pay, ( payment in lieu of notice) and SSP pay. Could anyone tell me how this will affect our Universal credit please and for how long? My husband is hoping to return to employment to fit around my care needs in around 3 months so our only income until then will be Universal credit, personal independence and his military pension. We don't have any savings so need to ensure we manage the money we have just received, a Friend told me my husbands final payment would have to last 6 months before we receive another Universal credit payment which has really worried us.

    Hello @emj9998

    When is your next Universal Credit (UC) payment due, or do you know your assessment period dates?

    Based on the amounts you’ve provided, it will only impact one of your UC payments. The payment for the assessment period during which you receive the £4,197 will be reduced to zero, meaning you won’t receive any UC. However, your future payments will return to your usual amount without any deductions for his wages.

    Hi Morgan, I believe you are the clever lady who kindly advised me before.

    We get our universal credit payments on the 14th of each month.

    Thank you for confirming.

    From the figures you've shared @emj9998, your next payment from UC which is due on the 14th November, will be for £0.

    After that, your payments should return to normal and no further deductions will be made for your husband's pay in lieu of notice.

    Hi I have recently been dismissed due to ill health from work and have recieved pay in lue of notice of 3100 I have recently been awarded limited capability for work and activities and I'm worried this final payment from work will cause my claim to be terminated and I will have to go through work capability assessment and reapply all over again any advice greatly appreciated
