PIP review

I sent off my form for my PIP review last November (2024) and received the message to say they've received it etc and since then I've been sent two or three text messages to say that they're dealing with it.
I don't understand why it's taking so long. Should I be worried because it's never taken this long before

Hi @oasis63, unfortunately there are delay's with reviews. I wouldn't worry at this point, it's likely at a position of waiting to be reviewed.

I sent my PIP review form back in OCT and yesterday I got my decision letter back, so it took 9 months for me but you will continue to get your payments until a decision is made.

That's a long time to wait isn't it.
I've still been receiving it. I just don't know why it's been taking much longer than the usual reviews. Maybe it's because the government have been trying to radically change it?
I heard today that the bill they've got through is a watered down one which only affects new claimants so existing claimants won't be affected. I don't know if you know anything about that?

So I think they just have so many reviews to get through they just cannot handle the number of claims quickly. I don't think it's because of the change, as my last two reviews took several months too.
So yeah, the new rules only apply to new claimants, but the rules come into effect in November 2026, so there's no need to worry about it just yet. I am certain your review will be sorted before that date.
The issue many people will have next year is if their review is not sorted before Nov 2026 and they get rejected and all appeals get rejected too, they will have to make a fresh claim, which means the new rules apply to them.
So people making a new claim before Nov 26 would be safe from the new rules.

I see what you mean.
Yes, I really can't see my review taking until November 2026 because that would mean they've had my completed forms for two years!
Hopefully within the next couple of months it will all be sorted

I saw a note from someone who had claimed PIP before the end of their existing award and had subsequently been denied PIP, now apparently their previous award has ended?
I don't see the incentive then to apply for my PIP renewal too far in advance, in case I go through the stress of having my previous award end prematurely?0 -
Well I hope you get it sorted soon and get it awarded :)

Sorry to butt in but which new rules are coming out in November 2026?

No new rules have been decided, there will be a consultation process first.
I don't normally link to social media sources, but this is a great summary by a reputable organisation.
