Journey of ADP review

Hello,

I thought it might be helpful if i share the story of my son's first ADP review so others can compare and refer to it.

My son was a transfer from PIP. He was awarded double enhanced in 2020 for 5 years. Covid extended that to 6 years and he wouldn't have been due a review until November 2026 on that system.

However, as we are in Scotland, his award moved seemlessly to ADP early 2025 and his first review is now.

The first thing I noticed is that the review letter is addressed to him. As he is under a legal guardianship, I do have power to open and deal with his mail.

I could not believe how simple the form is. Basically, if no change, sign and return!

There is an option to fill out that declaration online too.

There is another sheet, listing the points awarded by pip. If you already have the pip assessor's copy of where points were awarded, you will have seen it already. But it could be new to you if you don't know where you scored.

So - this morning 9.15 a.m, i call them. 45 mins to get through which is perhaps to be expected at that time of a morning (lines open at 8)

I told them the appointeeship didn't seem to have been transferred and they confirmed it had not been. They gave me an address to forward a copy of the guardianship order.

I also told them i did not think my son qualified for enhanced disability. I described what he can and can't do. The advisor didn't know the answer either. He advised that i sign "no change" but add a statement in with my form with the extra info.

Apparantly, even if you select "no change" they do get in touch.

The envelope supplied in 2nd class. I might upgrade to 1st class recorded.

I will post it tomorrow and keep this thread updated when i hear from them.

Thanks for sharing @anisty, it's interesting to read how the system works in Scotland. Hope it all goes smoothly!

Just to add. In the envelope i have put:

    The declaration

Copy of guardianship order (one to the address in Glasgow plus copy of same to Dundee address)

    Autism report dated 2011

    Cognitive report dated 2011

2 independent psychiatrist reports dated 2023

A 2 page long handwritten in block capitals by me report on my son's ability to plan a journey plus what his week looks like.

All the info to give them a clear picture of my son. Let's see what happens!

Hmmmm. Well my item has been signed for. But the address i sent it to is in Dundee. And it was signed for in Edinburgh (that's a good 30 miles from Dundee)

It is a PO box but why have a box so far away from the address.

I tried calling Royal Mail but all automated options. Nothing seemed to fit.

I will leave it til early next week then phone ADP to see if they have received it.

** In my first post on this thread, i wrote disability when i meant mobility. I do not think he meets the criteria for enhanced mobility.

I do think the enhanced award for daily living is correct. Enhanced daily living and standard mobility is what i think the award should be.

    Well, well. ADP are SWIFT!!!!

I won't need to call them next week because it was I (and i can't find the key to embolden that i !)

who received the special delivery from them.

Most of my documents (which were copies) returned with a covering letter "Thank you for entrusting us with important documents"

The cognitive report and autism report were not returned so they must have either recognised them as copies, or think they are more important maybe.

Whatever - they got my mail and have already scanned to their system.

So - timeline so far: I post completed declaration to their Dundee address 1st class signed for on Tuesday, 12th August 2025.

I receive documents back (that were included in with that declaration) Friday, 15th August 2025. First class special delivery.

On tidying up what came out of the envelope, maybe don't trust them with original documents.

They have actually returned one page of my son's cognitve assessment after all!

I wonder if they really intended to return ALL docs but something went wrong there! As i said, i only sent copies so it really doesn't matter to me.

    Here is the covering letter

I did end up calling just to be certain it was received at the right place!

This time called at 8.15 am and was ½ hour in the queue.

So - be sharp at 8a.m to avoid that!

They DON'T send out any confirmation that they have received a review form. That is only for new applications, apparently.
