Hello there. I am mum and appointee for my adult autistic and learning disabled son. I have had the migration notice for ESA to UC and I am dreading it. The last WCA that took place and the result meant we had to appeal which was successful but the damage was done. We discovered my son was planning to commit suicide. I know that there is no way he can go through that again even if it means having no UC and using his PIP and my pension to live on. His medical evidence is old as he was diagnosed as a child. He refuses to go to a doctor now as he believes with the Assisted Dying Act passing, that they are going to try to kill all learning disabled people in the future. I feel like giving up myself. The NHS were useless with him last time this happened and it was only through paying privately for specialist counselling that we got through it. He saw the brown envelope and I had to pretend it was about Pension Credit. Has anyone any advice please ?

I can't even begin to imagine how difficult that period of time was for you both @losingfaith. Bless you, that's a really tough predicament. I would suggest contacting DWP to make them aware of the circumstances around the aged medical evidence and see what they say. Sorry I couldn't be much more help but hopefully if there are members who have been through similar situations, they will see this and add their advice. I hope that you're able to get something sorted with DWP without having to go through too much with doctors etc.

When migrating to UC no new WCA is required as a direct result of migration. His ESA status will transfer automatically into the UC equivalent.

No Fit Note, WCA or medical evidence is required.

All that's needed is for health conditions to be listed on the application form.

Citizens Advice have a Help to Claim service, they can support you before during and after your claim.
