Help with Occupational Pension and UC

Hi all,
Posting on behalf of MIL that receives both UC (with child component and the disability component) and Adult Disability Payment Scotland.
Child is due to finish school and my MIL is also aware she can now draw an Occupational Pension.
I'm wondering if anyone can give it advice on this. We understand her actual pension when taken will be reduce her UC aware. However she is due a lump sum too (which she largely intends on spending on necessities to support a house move).
My issue is she has a backdated pension payment (she should have claimed last year but didn't realise). I've been advised UC will consider this income as opposed to capital (£6k) and that they'll then say she was overpaid UC during these past few months. Has anyone any experience of this? How did it work?
Looking for any support and advice on offer.

Hi @HelpfulSoninlaw really sorry you've not had a response to this. It sounds like quite unique circumstances and it seems disappointing that they won't allow the lumpsum as it's deemed a back payment, especially given it'll be used to help support her house move. Did you manage to get any further advice since posting this?
