Do I lose LCWRA if I attempt self-employment?

Hello,
I am in receipt of the LCWRA element and it's financially important for me to keep it right now. However, I wanted to start exploring some options to become self-employed. I wonder if any of these could affect my right to LCWRA: accessing work-related charities through the Jobcentre, maybe access training through the Jobcentre, possibly apply for Access to Work funding, apply for and get funding for my self-employment project (funding source not DWP-related), and then possibly start the project?
The project is honestly more of a way for me to get out of health-imposed stagnation and do something that is manageable for me, but it won't make real earnings, unless I am particularly lucky with funding. I would probably have to register as self-employed, though.
Can any of this be used by DWP to trigger a reassessment of my LCWRA , or stop it? Also in light of the recent government stances regarding disability and benefits.
Many thanks.

Hi there @Andrew12 and welcome to the community. 😊
It's great that you're wanting to get out there, but I understand there's some hesitancy.
There is no limit on the hours you can work, and your LCWRA status will not be affected unless they have reason to show the work you are doing goes against the reason you get LCWRA. How much you earn will reduce your UC payments after your work allowance is used up. You'll need to be reporting your earnings to the DWP via your work journal each month.Â

Thank you very much for the reply. I wanted to access a charity that helps with reintegration in the workforce, they seem really good but the only way to access them is through the Restart Scheme. I have been advised that due to receiving LCWRA I am no longer eligible for that – is that true? Many thanks!

I'm on a similar situation, and that's why I'm coming forward.
There's some good intel on this forum and similar online websites to all your queries, I'll advise you digging further on those matters, mainly because it keeps your mind busy and gets you a lot of knowledge, always depending on subjective interpretation and specific cases, but that's exactly why forums and such exist, they allow us to enquiry.
Best of luck.

That's unfortunately correct @Andrew12 it's only available to those who have been on the intensive work search scheme for six months. As LCWRA have no work commitments, this would no apply to you.
It's worth speaking to the lovely folk from Scope's Support To Work team though. Hopefully they'll be able to point you in the right direction.0
