moving from ESA support group to universal credit

Hi my partner and i got a letter a few days ago to say ive got to move to u-credit from the old style ESA also get standard rate pip and sdp. the letter says ive got to change over by the 30th November 2025 do I have to do it straight away or can I leave it till a bit later please I heard that if you do it to soon you will not get the transitional protection is this the case ? any advice or info would be really helpful please.

    After starting the form you have 28 days to submit. You can save at various points, then leave and return later.

    If the time goes over 28 days, the information will be deleted and you'd need to start again.

    Transitional Protection is not impacted if you apply too soon.

    Citizens Advice have a Help to Claim service, they can support you before during and after your claim.

    Hi,

    Now that you have had a migration letter, you will get Transitional Protection no matter how soon you migrate.

    It was only people migrating before the letter that would miss out on TP. (Although that has since been fixed and is no longer true.)

    You can leave it up to the 30th November if you want. But I wouldn't recommend leaving it that late personally. My recommendation would be do it the day after your next ESA payment.

    PIP remains a completely separate benefit, that is not being migrated to UC.

    Thanks for your answers, will I have to have a assessment with me being in the support group for many yeas due to my health conditions ? I. have recently got my pip back and also get SDP with my ESA,

    You won't be re assessed as a direct result of migration to UC.
