in search of disappeared money......

Hi Everyone, I've read a lot about UC, both good and bad. However, what happened to me, I've never encountered anything like it anywhere. Towards the end of last year, I was living in such bad conditions that at the end of the month, for a few days, I went to parks and ate weed, I did this because I had a bad relationship with the landlord (he constantly threatened, "I'll put you out on the street and you can go sleep at the bus stop"") so that I could pay the rent. Then I gathered all my courage and asked UC for help (but I was really afraid that I would lose what I was getting) and imagine, they took my money away. The letter said not only that they would take my money away, but that they were obligated to pay xx retroactively because they didn't do their job properly and my money should have been taken away a long time ago (I've been on disability for a while now). Well, the money that they said should be paid retroactively appeared in my account and for months they rewrote the payments and instead of the old payments they wrote much higher amounts. However, I never saw the money and it did not appear in my bank account. When I asked half a year later what they did and why they did this in my account, they told me to accept everything and acknowledge that everything is fine here. However, I have already been through the bank statement check and I know how humiliating and unpleasant it is. I asked if I accept what they say now, I will remain silent and at the next check they will ask what I did with that money, they will tell me that too, then what should I say? - where is the money? I wrote to the Jour and asked to speak to the manager (this was several months ago) but the manager does not want to talk to me, he did not answer anything. What can be done in such a situation? Esther

This sounds very difficult and confusing for you. Do you have anyone helping you like a support worker that can speak to UC for you? You would need to be present when the call was made but if you give permission they can speak to the other person. If you don't have anyone that can do this then please contact a local advice agency such as Citizens Advice and ask them to help you resolve things.

Hi @Esther0 Here is the process for Universal Credit complaints. It seems like a complex situation and I hope you can get it all sorted.
Laurens given some great advice there about contacting Citizens Advice for support or asking for help from a support worker if you have one.
