Backpay of disabled child element
my son was awarded dla beginning of august, I informed UC and asked for it to be referred to a decision maker for the backpay of the disabled child element. When i received my next UC payment the disabled child element had been added, but only 1 months. It’s been 6 weeks since i asked for it to be referred to a decision maker and ive heard nothing, i have left a message asking for an update last week, but again I've heard nothing. Have I done something wrong? Is this normal practice? How long does it normally take?

Unfortunately we can't advise as to timesce, it takes as long as it takes is the answer, aka how long is a piece of string!
They've added it to your monthly award, but any decision about backdating is done separately. You'll know when this has been looked at as a letter will be added to your Journal, stating whether the "late" reporting of change has been allowed.
Payment will then follow.
See this thread for further advice and an example letter where the decision was favourable.
