medical evidence claiming PIP

hi, Does anyone knows if DWP contacts a claimant's GP for evidence, reports. thank you

From I've been reading, assessors contact a claimant's GP for evidence, but it is not automatic and requires your consent. While the DWP/assessors expect claimants to provide their own evidence, they will contact a claimant's GP if they need more information.

I sent in all relevant evidence I had going back to adolescence. My GP received a letter about my disability. I subsequently heard that I had been granted a paper assessment. The assessor's report suggested he had read everything I'd written plus all evidence. I was awarded the higher rates for both components on an ongoing/10 years basis. Give as much evidence as you can, however old.

Mine was pretty much the same and I had paper based, high rate both components ongoing for ten years.
They did contact my gp
