Advice needed please on Personal Assistant

Hi I was wondering if anybody could give me some advice please? My Daughters Personal Assistant has been on long term sick since August after she had cosmetic surgery and developed sepsis :-( This put us in a difficult position as she had only been with us 8 months and off course we paid her sick pay out of my Daughter's Council budget, but this did not leave us enough to cover the cost of temporarily employing somebody else, in addition we didn't know how long she would be off for. In order to try to give H (our Daughter) something to focus on we managed to get her accepted onto a Course and it has been really successful. The problem I have is the P.A. has now told me she will be returning the beginning of December and the hours she worked back in August are no longer available as H is attending the Course and she loves it. I don't know what to do, we only looked at the course because we had no alternative, at the time it was that or nothing. I would like to terminate the P.A. contract with us I offered to make up the hours in the evenings and week ends as an alternative, and she said she will not work week ends and needs at least 17 hours work and has turned it down. Where do I go from here does anybody know? My Daughter would like support in the evening to go out and socialise where possible now. I'm having many sleepless nights over this :-/

You are a star Steve51 thanks so much, I will check it out now. Been in touch with the legal department through my Public Liability Insurance people, you would think I ran a multi national the way they were talking to me. I'm slowly working my way through everything (I hope!) Thanks again, very much appreciated. x
