Migration ID Online
This is about Migration from ESA into the UC Support group.
I wanted to ask please if anyone here has been allowed to have their ID processed via Online or Video? My Daughter is housebound and suffers with terrible depression and anxiety. It would be detrimental to her wellbeing if they were to try to force her to attend Job centre for the ID part of Migration.
She has comprehensive forms of ID to submit to them....will they send a link to upload her ID via the Journal Online please?
The Account has been created but not submitted as yet.
Thank you for any help with this.

Hi,
There are various options for confirming ID online when submitting the claim. These include a passport & driving licence or a credit check.
UC do not allow video or email type uploads for alternative forms of ID. For this they have to be done in person, either at a Job Centre or at a home visit. The most common option in this situation is to use a biographical telephone call instead of paperwork though. If your daughter can manage the phone call, that is the quickest and easiest option. There are long waits for home visits which will delay the first payment until completed.

On the form there is nowhere that asks for her ID part. Does that come once the form is submitted?
Can we request they send a link to upload her ID, passport ect? .… I thought there would be a part on the form, but nothing there.

From other posts, OP's Daughter has an appointee in place.
In those situations, it is the appointee who needs to verify their own ID.
Citizens Advice have a Help to Claim service, they can support you before during and after your claim.

Went to the CAB, they said just complete the form - which is being done. To be honest the CAB adviser wasn't not that helpful.
On the form there is no place to add ID - So was asking if this is something they send link to complete in journal?
Yes, appointee has their ID also.....but where to upload it is what I was wondering.

I don't know whether you went to your local CAB branch or used the H2C service - that is run nationally by phone & webchat, not connected to your local branch.
Other members who have used it were generally positive about the service.

I was in the same position. I am housebound due to depression/anxiety issues. At first, when I put my online form in, the system set me up with an ID interview at my local job centre. Then I put a note on my journal and said I could not leave my house and then they set me up with a telephone appointment, where your daughter just has to answer very simple questions about her identity. Such as how long she has lived where she is now, where was she born. That kind of thing. The other option is for someone to do a house visit to you.
There are plenty of options and they were very nice to me when they heard about my mental health issues, so please tell your daughter not to worry.1 -
It has been over a year since I submitted my own claim although I'm sure the online ID was done at the point of submitting it. Perhaps it is different now. Or perhaps the difference is due to the claim being made by an appointee. I'm afraid I don't have anything more to offer at the moment. I would recommend just submitting the claim and then working out the ID verification afterwards.

Oh and the ID part comes after you have submitted the form. You submit the form, then you are sent something in your journal (which will appear after you have subitted your form) to tell you about the options for submitting iD.) If you have anything like a passport, driving licence, you can upload these from your UC account and they should pass it on those
If not, as I said earlier, you can ask for a telephone appointment.1 -
Thank you so very much for replying. Feel much more reassured from reading about your experience with UC. It sounds like you are in a similar situation to my Daughter.....I'm so very sorry you struggle with this also.
I've also just spoken to CAB on the phone and they said it was my Daughters ID that they will ask for…but I have both prepared just ready.
Thank you so much x

No problem. :) It is a very scary process but especially if you have the relevant ID they need for your daughter, you will be fine!
