Carers allowance cancelled still getting payments

Hi,

I recieved carers allowance for 3 months. On 2nd september I filled in an online form to cancel this as I have joined university with the start date of 2nd september. I have the email confirmation of this. On 19th september (friday before monday payment) I rang to confirm I was only getting 1 weeks payment. The man said the system hasn't been updated and I would be getting a full payment but not to worry as the form I filled in was a legal document and I would not need to repay this money. Today I got paid another full month, I rang them and explained again that I should not be getting the money. This lady was rude and unhelpful. She kept saying just wait but its been 6 weeks and 6 days. How much longer to close the claim? And will they make me pay back the money? Even though the first person has said it don't need to pay it back. I asked to speak to a manager ot higher up that could help more and the lady today kept saying no.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

    Carers Allowance continues for 8 weeks after it has been cancelled !!

    So - if you stopped it on 2 September, you will continue to receive it until Tuesday, October 28, 2025

    I cancelled my carers allowance on the 26th june but im still getting payed i filled an on line form aswell . I have made a claim for esa now and hope them keep paying me wont affect that

    Oh when I got a job I had to pay back a weeks carers allowance that was over paid. The guy was rude
