My husband went for an assessment at wakefield, the assessor was a paramedic, we got the reply back and nothing about his illness was in there, has anyone else had this too

    Hi sueruth and welcome

PIP is more about functionaliy rather than illness. It is about how your husbands illness affects the things he can do

Alas your story is not uncommon, there are many tales of poor assessments on the forums but many good assessments are never heard of.

You do not say what, if any award he received

The first thing to do is request a copy of the assessment report
Next, within a month of the date of the decision letter you should ask for a mandatory reconsideration. This is the first stage of the appeal process and has to be done before progressing to tribunal.

It is important to understand the points system, descriptors and criteria for an award. A good place to start is the Self test on the B&W site

There is lots of good info on here also.
Please have a look round and come back with any questions
