I have been denied a second bedroom with my council I am in band B one of the highest and I’m a wheelchair user I have FND and I am writing a challenge email to see if they will accept this I feel as if they have dismissed me even when I already submitted my medical evidence and in this really long email plus all the supporting evidence I have taken each letter from each professional and I have added quotes directly from each individual letter and so they can’t dismiss me again I know that there is a housing crisis here in the uk but this is my life here I’m struggling to get any help as it is from where I am living as I’m in temporary accommodation for now looking to move to Sheffield I am just praying it all goes well but if anyone has any advice or suggestions for me please let me know I would appreciate and also if there is any suggestions for disability aids

Hi @emily12, I'm sorry that no-one was able to answer your question. Have you heard anything back from the council?

What kind of disability aids do you think you'd need?

@Rachel_Scope I haven’t heard anything back yet but I was thinking about what kinds of equipment so I can prove I need the second bedroom as I need another space to keep my wheelchair and it would be hard to keep it safe if it was outside and like other equipment or something like that to calm my ptsd so I don’t know

I have a class 3 scooter and powerchair in my living room, and a boot scooter in my hallway. Do you need another bedroom just for a wheelchair? Council housing is very scarce.

With the right sized property you could store those things elsewhere within your home with no actual need for a second bedroom.

I'm in a one bed flat the living room & bedroom are very big, plus I have my own outdoor storage shed.

The bathroom is quite small, kitchen large for a 1-2 person home.

They don't award additional bedrooms for equipment, it is quite strict criteria @emily12. Did you look into how or why they will award it? It's usually only if you needed overnight care from someone else, or can't share with a partner due to disability etc
