Benefits/Student/PIP

Hello,

I am a Masters student, trying to rebuild my life after having taken several years to rest and recover with ill health. I was assessed as having limited capacity for work recently, and in receipt of PIP for the last couple years. I also claim UC.

My PIP was reviewed and I just got the news that they are stopping my payments completely, due to having apparently scored 0 on all categories. I am getting help from my uni to appeal this decision and searching for other grants etc.

However - I need to know, because my PIP is stopping, does this mean that my UC will now stop too because I'm a student? The criteria for UC continuing is LCW and PIP at the start of your course, if PIP stops during your course - what does this mean?

I am so upset, I'm trying to develop a career that is actually sustainable for me as most mainstream work is not an option, and I'm potentially going to be stopped from doing this by the same system that wants me in work and not depending entirely on benefits.

If anyone has any information, I would be so grateful.

Thank you
