UC Migration (Appointee)

Apologies long post - will bullet point to make quicker.

*Father, now my ex partner- is our daughters appointee. Daughter has always had her ESA/DLA Payments go into fathers bank account. She prefers this.

*He moved out of family home in 2020 just before Covid - Daughter is Immunosuppressant Crohns.

*Late 2020 - as covid continued - he Phoned ESA to inform them he no longer lives with daughter - Told it is irrelevant as 'appointee does not need to live with person they support'.

*They continued writing to father as appointee to home address. Thought nothing of it.

*2022. March. Father 'officially' is not returning home. Our relationship completely brokedown.

*September 2022 - I have to make my own claim for UC as Single disabled person.

*I inform UC 'again' that 'of course my Ex-partner, appointee to our Daughter, has officially moved out of family home.

*They still continued to send letters to him, appointee, to home address -

Forward to:
*August 2025 Daughter receives UC migration letter. Father, appointee, fills out form - no main issues with form or Daughters ID.

*They have asked Father that he comes to job centre just to provide Bank Card to verify bank details for payments with just one bank statement.

Which is no issue - However, I think this is because his Bank account is obviously in his own address....but they write to him to family home address.

Obviously, the bank address details are different to where they write to him - but they were informed that he doesn't live at home address...in fact, 3 times.

He is due to go into the Job centre tomorrow, Monday, to provide details and bank card. He is also taking in our Daughters ID just in case they ask.

The thing is, this is not a change in circumstances, not for my Daughter - I am tempted to accompany him as it was made clear to them that he no longer lived at home address since 2020 and official in 2022.

They obviously have not actioned this - but does anyone have any idea if this will impact my Daughters migration to UC? Any advice of how we approach this....or am I worrying too much?

*My Daughter was in support group of ESA so under section 19 migrates into support group LCWRA of UC *

P.S. Her father has 'always worked' and he is not on any benefits.

Hi @Nobodyspecial, I don't think this would affect your daughter's migration as it relates to her appointee's address rather than her own. And if anything does go wrong, it looks like you have a good amount of evidence to back things up.

It may be worth your husband taking a few forms of address ID with him to the appointment. If he's able to mention again that his address is still incorrect on the system hopefully they can sort it for him then and there.

Fingers crossed it all gets sorted soon without too much more stress.

Thank you so much for your reply.

I've told him to take in other ID - and to take in my Daughters ID and address confirmation....just to be sure.

He's asked if I will go with him....and my Daughter wants me to also - but I'm anxious it may affect my situation. I rarely leave the house myself...…but think it's best I take courage and go with him to back up that they were Informed that he doesn't live at the family address.....they were told when I claimed myself.

Thank you again for your time 🙏🏼
