PIP TRIBUNAL
Hi everyone.
I had my PIP renewal rejected from July this year, so I applied for mandatory reconsideration. This week I had the outcome and surprise surprise that too has been rejected. I have now applied for a tribunal hearing. Just wondering what sort of time scale I should expect and also is there much chance of success through tribunal.

Hi @Bignig. I'm not sure of timescales as I'm currently waiting for my renewal decision which started in April! I went to tribunal when I first applied and was awarded it. No-one can say whether you'll be successful or not, but I would always recommend going to tribunal if you need to. I found the process much better as there were people with medical knowledge and I could do it via video call from home with my husband next to me.

tribunal normally is a very lengthy process. However, normally Tribunal success rate is 70 per cent.. while with MR success is about 20 per cent. nothing bad to go for tribunal

You could wait up to one year for a Tribunal, but it is worth doing it as there are qualified people in attendance and success rates are good!

Just had my letter acknowledging the tribunal date set for 29th.
it’s a phone tribunal, what should I expect on the day and during the hearing itself?1 -

Hi @Bignig. Good luck with your tribunal! There will usually be a panel of people including a judge and they'll ask you a few more questions about how your conditions affect you day to day. They might want to clarify certain things or go into more depth on some bits more than others, it can be quite personal to your own case. But I've heard lots of members saying they felt much more understood and listened to by the panel than at other stages so I hope that's the case for you too.
Some people find it helpful to keep some notes nearby to help answer the questions. Things like examples of how your condition affects your ability to go through day to day life, or anything else you think might be helpful to keep near by.
Is there anyone you could have with you during the call for moral support? Sometimes it can help just to have another person in the room if you're feeling nervous about it.

Hi @Dendoo, yes it is absolutely fine to take notes with you. It's a stressful process so it's easy to forget things.

Good luck with both your tribunals, I applied for my tribunal in november too I was just wondering what area are yous in as Im not sure the waiting time. The waiting is crippling.

So, my tribunal hearing (phone call). Is on Monday 29th at 2pm. On the letter it stated the date and time and also said another communication would be sent at least 24hrs beforehand. As of Friday 26th I hadn’t heard anything so rang them up. They said I will hear how to join the call via email or text message.
im now getting quite anxious as today is Sunday and my hearing is tomorrow and I’ve still not heard anything else. Any advice please!!!!0 -

It is likely to arrive tomorrow morning. If you haven't received it by about 11am then it's probably worth contacting them.

Had my phone tribunal. There was a judge, doctor and health care assistant and a representative from DWP. After all the pleasantries and introductions the judge said to the DWP “having looked at all the evidence and documentation provided we find it really difficult to understand why the award hasn’t been granted!”
That was music to my ears. The judge then asked the DWP if there were any questions regarding the claim to which they said no. The judge then re-awarded me Standard living and mobility. I’m so so happy and relieved. Just wait now for letter and then I guess back dated payment?

well pleased for you ! I had the same outcome . They had made minds up before I got there . I’m not saying this because of the outcome but what warm genuine panel I had . Honestly I was dreading it after reading horror stories !
