Uc - Migrating and 3-week rent arrears

Is this correct when migrating from esa to uc those three weeks without rent being paid do you have to pay those three weeks ps hope makes sense

    It depends on your landlord.

    Some aren't bothered about the account going in and out of arrears.

    Some ask for a payment plan, to pay the arrears off a little at a time so each UC payment eventually puts the account a month into credit.

    Others want the rent on time and would expect the tenant to pay so the account is up to date. A Discretionary Housing Payment may be possible to pay for the gap.

    our son had to pay 3 weeks rent up front and his social landlord said all customers needed to be at least 2 weeks in credit. He had to pay over £500. Thankfully he was in a position to do so but it’s appalling.
