    Hi,

    I had a skin **** test (SPT)

•A small amount of the suspected allergen is placed on your skin, usually your forearm or back. I had it placed on my forearm.

•The clinician gently pricks or scratches the surface so the substance can enter the skin.

•After about 15–20 minutes, they check for a reaction — usually redness, itching, or a raised bump (like a mosquito bite).

•The size of the reaction helps indicate whether you’re sensitised to the allergen.

I was asked to stop taking any antihistamines 7 days before the test, I had mild itching after the test and was referred to a dietician for avoidance advice once the clinician explained my results.
