I don’t really know what to say, except hi and that I really struggle day to day and I just wish I had more help and support with things, I have strong traits of Autism and ADHD I’m currently undiagnosed and I also suffer with my Depression and anxiety, I also have dyslexia, and scoliosis. I’m 22 years old and I’ve been out of work probably since I was 16 and ever since I’ve just been in and out of different jobs only lasting between hours and a max of 2/3 days I feel like an embarrassment and like I can’t do anything right, I have no friends and I just feel so out of place here in this world! I didn’t have a EHC plan put in place for me even though since primary school I’ve always been behind other peers and it’s been like that since!! Even in high school. I’ve recently been getting quite overwhelmed in terms of money and work because money if very very tight as me and my boyfriend are on a joint UC claim and I receive LCWRA and I really really want to work but I just don’t have the right support system for that to happen and I need the LCWRA money to survive so I don’t know what I’m supposed to do anymore, I’m not living a life a 22 year old is supposed to be living and it sucks! And I’m so mentally exhausted and burnout. So hi everyone I’m Amy thanks for reading if you have.

Hi @Amy_2003 and welcome to the community 😊

I'm so sorry you're struggling, you seem to be dealing with a lot. Have you ever had any therapy for your anxiety and depression? You sound very similar to me when I was your age - things can get better with the right support, you just need to figure out what would be best for you.

We have a Support to Work service that can help you find employment. You'll get a personal adviser and they'll go through your skills and CV and make sure you feel ready to work.

You're not an embarrassment, you just need some support, and that's ok.

thank you for that little message, that’s so sweet of you. And yes I’ve tried talking therapies multiple times and I just haven’t found the right therapist and style that suits me. But I’m quite skeptical when it comes to therapy. Because it’s never helps me.

Also how do I access you guys for help regarding work? Is there a way through email. Thanks Rachel 🙂

I've tried different types of therapy too and also felt skeptical so I totally understand where you're coming from. I recently did talking therapy but the type that really worked for me many years ago was DBT - Dialectical Behaviour Therapy. I was with a group of women and we met every week for a year with 2 therapists. It's very similar to CBT and it worked wonders for me.

So to get some help with getting back into work, just use this link Support to Work and there'll be a button that says 'Sign up today' and that'll take you to an online form 😊

Hey Rachel, Its so interesting you speak of DBT as I recently watched a video from the lady that founded this practice (Dr. Marsha LinehanI) Im glad you found it beneficial….

I haven't had this done myself, but want to, so will speak to my trauma psychologist when I finally get my appointment as ive heard very positive outcomes that many people have had after having DBT. Ill post the video I watched just incase it might help and encourage someone else
