    Hi,

When you move in together you will need to claim UC as a couple.

Your partners earnings may cause a deduction from your joint UC. LCWRA is not separate from that. All of the elements are added together to create one total UC amount. Then deductions for earnings or savings are are taken away from that total. Do you know roughly how much your partner earns each month?

Your PIP will not be affected as that is a completely different benefit, not connected to UC.

The moving date is a bit more complicated. For your UC, I would suggest moving on or after the 17th of the month. That will mean you still get paid your current amount on the 23rd of that month. (Though that might not be best time for your partners payments as well).

UC is not calculated on the number of hours. We would need to know the amount of money they earn each month for this.

As previously advised she can earn £411 a month before UC make their standard deduction of 0.55p for every pound earned.

As before you can try a benefits calculator (filling it in as though you are already living together) to estimate your joint UC entitlement, or speak to a local welfare rights organisation.

£300 a week she just started that job this week

That would add up to around £1300 a month.

That would create a large deduction from your joint UC amount. Nearly £500 a month deducted if my quick maths is correct.

but would I still get lcwrca and we would get an allowance of £628 couple?

LCWRA element would still be included on the joint statement. And you would get the couples basic rate together. (Plus any other elements such as Housing etc). All of those elements are added up first. Then around £500 would be taken away from the total because of the work earnings.

    Just for example:

    Basic couples rate £628 + LCWRA £423 = £1051

Then £500 is taken away for the work earnings.

    £1051 - £500 = £551

So you would get £551 UC payment.

But overall you are better off because £551 UC + your partners earnings of £1300 = £1851 total from UC and work. 🙂

UC works by adding up all your entitlement, then making deductions.

    So your claim would be:

    Housing Element

    Standard Allowance (Couple)

    1x LCWRA

    1x Carers Element

    1x Child Element

Then the deduction for wages would be made.

When I move in with my partner is it a brand new claim and have to wait 5 weeks for payment like a new claim?

No, you just join your existing claims together.

Your Assessment Period will end on the 16th if you get paid on the 23rd.

We can't work out your partners AP dates where they get two payments. They will have to check their UC statement to find their AP dates.
