Something to keep us going...
When things are difficult or threaten to overwhelm you, when you are suffering... what quote, mantra, wise words or perhaps something completely different keeps you from ruminating? If you feel you might lose yourself in a negative spiral, what do you hang on to? What is it that you need for relief?
It could be something from a movie or book (fiction or non-fiction) or perhaps a highlight that improved your mood. And I am guessing it might vary, different things to soothe yourself in different situations or moments? What might work today, might not be what you need the next?

“You are imperfect, you are wired for struggle, but you are worthy of love and belonging.”
The internet is full of quotes by Brene Brown, but this is one that stuck with me from when I first came across it. I think it was something Miranda Hart shared on IG?

I find solace in my Buddhist Philosophy, I’ve been a practicing Buddhist for the last 15 years. With there being no Buddhist Centre here in Derby, I do my own meditation each morning and at night using guided session on Apple Fitness.

Cool, @Zippy1983 ! You sound very dedicated, good for you.
I see myself as a bodhisattva, someone who is still learning. This means I also get it wrong from time to time, such as thinking when seeing your inspiring pics 'I should be able to do this.' Because of course, Buddhism is about being and kindness, so very gently I remind myself of a disclaimer: it is not easy.
Oh, and I found the other thread about meditation here on this forum. Gonna keep an eye on that as well. Thanks for sharing :)
@Kookee said: 'I mostly find they’re from a society that is fuelled by consumerism and doesn’t believe in disability, kindness, compassion, living life simply and authentically…'
Yeah, or perhaps the easy way of kindness, you know? The light version, but not when it becomes tough on others. I feel very rejected by society in general and my family specifically. Yet, they are not bad people. It would be easier if they were, if things were black and white, just to comprehend what is going on.
Old patterns are hard to get rid of, I am so glad we are able to talk about these things here. Like I said… learning - admittedly with a sigh. Wouldn't it be nice to have some sort of enlightenment instead of always having to sit with what is, things that arise… I know that sometimes just telling myself 'this life is hard' is kindness to myself.

@Kookee Not giving up on humanity, because being connected is perhaps the only way… My suffering is not that different from someone else, it is our shared human experience, I think we need to find ourselves as a collective again.
This is what Tara Brach says:

You may not believe it, but I wish I could believe in their cause. They seem so happy.

Listening to music gets me through some really hard times. It helps lift my mood.

About Tara Brach's Radical Compassion: if anyone feels like reading this together, please say so. I've already mentioned this in the book thread, so forgive me for repeating myself... it is just that it is about releasing old, hurtful habits and this is something most of us are dealing with.
For those who are celebrating something in December, this would be a wonderful gift, methinks.
I am rather slow yet purposefully, only a few pages a day. I got it ten days ago and so far made it to page 25, because I do a few pages a day and let it rest. Re-read the next or some days later.
Is anyone else reading books around this subject? Appreciating yourself, dealing with difficult circumstances and emotions? Embracing the rest of the world? Or something similar when it comes to Buddhism or simply mindfulness?

Just heard about Sydney Devine being flooded out of his final resting place. I hope he would have seen the funny side of it. At least he is making headlines again…
