hi. If anyone can help me then would be very grateful.

I’m currently on PIP(daily- enhanced mobility-none) and I’m also receiving LCWRA however I’m looking to become a carer for my mother too. I’ve read that if I do become a carer then it would be deducted from my UC and that my mother would also lose the same amount from her payments in order to cover mine but I was hopeful that I would get the Carers Element which would make it worthwhile for me.
From what I gather, she would lose that money then I would lose that from mine too so is it better to not become a Carer for her and that way there would be no deductions for her and I would receive my full UC still or is there more to it which I don’t know about? Thank you in advance for the help

With UC the same person cannot get both Carers Element and LCWRA element.

If you were eligible for Carers Allowance then this would be deducted from your UC award in full.

Your mother might also lose some money depending on what benefits she gets.
