I hadn't seen this before. Great news, although I hope that actually handle the reviews with care and tact, unlike their normal way of doing things.

Just wanted to add some extra information from the DWP regarding this.
The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) announced that unpaid carers who faced unexpected debts due to unclear guidance on Carer's Allowance will have their cases reviewed. This follows the independent Sayce Review, which found that unclear rules on earnings averaging led to overpayments between 2015 and summer 2025. The Government plans to reassess these cases, potentially cancelling or repaying debts. The review made 40 recommendations, most of which have been accepted, including updating internal guidance and hiring additional staff to prevent future issues. The Government aims to modernise Carer's Allowance and improve support for carers, recognising their vital role in society.
