What do I take to the dentist to show I will be getting LCWRA uc next month. ?Also with prescriptions as well. ?

My first statement on the 1st Dec, payment on 5th. I haven't had any letter s from uc , unless its stuck in the sorting office again.

If you claimed UC online then no letters will come through the post, it's all done electronically any letters are uploaded to the Journal.

In future you can show an electronic copy of your statement on phone or print one out each month.

If appointments or prescriptions are happening before your first statement, I personally got receipts and claimed the money back while I was waiting.

All I do normally is just log into UC on my phone when at the dentist/chemist and show them, they normally only ever need to see it once and then they tick to say seen evidence.

Sorry for jumping on this thread but can i ask a question about this. My husband migrated to universal credit and claimed jointly with myself. He receives universal credit and now new style ESA contribution based. He did not know he was entitled to this until a letter arrived. This gets taken off his Universal Credit award. My husband receives free nhs dental, prescriptions as he is over 60. But I’m 58. Can i still get free dental and prescriptions still or do i now have to pay for it all as before he migrated we got it all free. So confused now… Can someone please help…Again sorry for jumping on this thread

Hi @joolzB. If your take-home pay is under the thresholds listed below you get free dental and prescriptions.

    • £435 or less
    • £935 or less if your Universal Credit includes a payment for a child, or you have a limited capability for work or limited capability for work and work related activity

If you claim Universal Credit as a couple, the take-home pay limit applies to the joint income of you and your partner.

Here is some more information https://www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/check-if-youre-eligible-help/getting-benefits/hwhc-universal-credit

Does new style esa count as take home pay as well as uc. If you are in the support group and that's all you get

No, take home pay is wages, ESA isn't a wage. 🙂

Thanks for answering my question. I feel better now knowing this. The bit that confused me was the take home pay.I don’t work as i am my husbands carer as he has Leukaemia so we only have the universal credit, carers and new style ESA (contribution based) I wasn’t sure with it being contribution based for the new style ESA which gets took off from his universal credit and that i could still get free prescriptions and dental as its my husband’s universal claim. Can i just show them my award when i pick up our prescriptions and go to the dentist or do i need any type of form to give them. Thanks

If asked you can show a copy of your most recent UC statement.

You claim UC as a couple so the claim applies to you both.
