PIP Review Any Advice Please

I don't want this to sound like sour grapes because I was grateful that I was awarded PIP albeit at the standard rate for living and mobility earlier this year. However, since sending through a mandatory appeal (bearing in mind that originally for dailing living I given scores 1's and 2's to a total of 8 and mobilty 10), I am still totally confused by their decision. I appealed regarding receing no points for managing treatments and budgeting. I also asked to look at planning and following a journey (re mobility).

Before the decision, i was called by a nice gentleman who thanked me me for putting forward a clear and reasoned explanation and he said I could expect a positive outcome via letter within a week. The following Saturday about a week later - I received a letter declining my appeal on the basis that as I had issues with taking my medicine (often getting totally mixed up with potential serious implications but had no family support and as I had issues making correct budget decisions ( which has resulted in serious debts and continous harranging from several banks) with no family support - it does not fit in to their marking system although they appreciated both these issue would be distressing. But no marks because of no family support.

Similarly, not being able to travel by public transport and so when driving having to return home because a route was disrupted did not count as I used god forbid a satellite navigation tool (as it does not count as a disabilitry aid).

I don't want to sound bitter and twisted but I feel too anxious to do anything or push back to them any more. Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated. Maybe I was expecting too much.

@AndyZLondon unfortunately the DWP is right about managing treatments and budgeting. Even though you have issues there is not a descriptor for that unfortunately.

Planning and Following a Journey is the mental health part of mobility. It is a confusing area of a PIP claim. Even assessors can mark wrong. Looking at what you have said about your journey, you would not qualify as you went on the journey, on your own, the route was disrupted, but you got back home! Heck that rhymes.... With the Sat Nav you followed the route of a Journey too..…

That's my take, there are members that are more clued up on the journey front, they may reply.

I know we hear from those who perhaps feel short changed, but surely every single claimant in receipt of the lower rate, they can't all be due enhanced?

I don't get enhanced for daily living, and am using a powerchair. I have never bothered to declare a change of circumstances, but who knows, maybe I will meet the criteria at a future assessment?

I think the main issue is everyone tends to score themselves higher than what they're likely to get. Another big main issue is its like a lottery system and all depend on luck which assessor you get. The system is unfair, as theres no set in stone criteria like for example: You could have 2 exactly the same people with the same conditions, same everything but depending on the assessor you get one could get enhanced and the other not. Its a broken system really.
