    I haven't tried it and wouldn't.

"Care" isn't quite what they appear to be offering and there are all manner of things that could make it bad.

There's certainly a growing number of businesses trying to sell that (and very similar) services but I don't know anyone who has (or would) try them.

    Just my two penneth

I need to find a carer or live in person from mid Jan. It is only in case I fall as I am very mobile around the house. They can have own independent living as the house is as professionally split into two homes.

Seriously, though, my friend in Norwich had private carers. If you like, I can speak to him about how to go about this. It's a different area, but similar principles or even organisations perhaps.

Cristina gets the advantage here as she knows where I live.

@jonf yes indeed I have that advantage, meaning you know there's no way I can make it!! LOL! So we're back to @onlylonesome as first in line.

What a spectacular light display. Wow! I haven't put up any Christmas lights yet. I'm going to do that tomorrow. Thank you for your inspiration πŸ‘πŸ˜ŠπŸŽ„

they are not my lights. Just hope that they don’t do the whole place. Not being mean but it is too bright when I need to sleep

Can you unplug them when you go to bed?

I forgot to add that they must like gingers and a grump like me lol. Or rather someone who is obsessed in recovering fully

That's a good thing! πŸ‘πŸ‘ Ok. I'll talk to my friend in Norwich this weekend. I'll post here in case someone else needs to know now or in the future. Hopefully someone else will post info here too.

    Hi @jonf

Here is some great info re the system of getting carers through the NHS, as well as info about hiring private carers:

    https://www.nhs.uk/social-care-and-support/care-services-equipment-and-care-homes/homecare/

I'm waiting to hear about the name of my friend's agency.

    Hi @jonf

This is the agency my friend used for carers at home for his Parkinson's, and he highly recommends them. They have lots of different locations in England.

On the NHS website I sent you yesterday, they have lots of links to set up private carers. It might be difficult for you to read that as it's quite a lot of info. But hopefully one of your healthcare providers can help you figure that out.

Good luck! I'm rooting for you. Always! 😊

I hope this does not appear twice.

I will contact them when they are open later. It is on my pad.

Just don’t want to pay huge agency fees and be put to bed at 7 pm like a small child. Far too young for that. Maybe look for a student nurse for the new place, half a house in exchange for just being around.

Struggling a little in pain when I first stand to get dressed and my Fitbit shouted at me yesterday as it was having a meltdown. Maybe I must go and stand outside in the rain and be thankful that I am alive. This is the third time in under a week that it has alerted me. Care team going to be on my case later as a result. Not sure who scares me more lol… think if it was one of those Apple Watches it might have called for help. Might have to treat myself.

Hi Jon. 😊 A live-in carer is super costly! Like really, really costly!

I'm looking at watches too. There are lots of them on Amazon. I've also been considering an alarm service with the Red Cross, but I think it might be unnecessary if I can get my own watch. But the watch might be unnecessary too because I'm just figuring out that my phone has emergency alert capability and most phones do. Have you explored your SOS system on your phone? Mobile phone, that is.

Oh, and standing in the rain, being thankful you're alive is a great idea. 😊
