Reactive hypoglycaemia

I have seen a discussion here about reactive hypoglycaemia.

I have suffered low blood sugar on and off for a few years but in 2024, I had serious low blood sugar. It made me loose my balance, sweating, confusion etc… since it has happened very often.

I was seen by endocrinologist. I had pet scan and CT scan to eliminate cancer.

I have not. It is now a question of food. Here is my problem : having to eat every 3 hours. I have stopped eating all the nasty carbs, sugary foods but it does not help… what frustration! Thank goodness I now sleep through the night. I used to have blood sugar dropping to 2.2. 2.3 in the night. I have to live with a sensor… anyone here having this problem?

That sounds really rough @solange. I've struggled with hypoglycaemia in the past from one of my conditions and it can be really draining.

Have you seen a dietician to help you with your diet? It may be worth chatting to your GP about whether they could refer you to one.

Has your doctor ordered any further investigations to find out what's causing it?

Hope you can get it under control soon.

    thank you for answering Rosie.

I am being followed by gastroenterology and endocrinologist and dietitian.

You are right it is tough but I am now achieving a full night sleep, this is if I eat the right way, have no upset etc… I used to wake up, up to 2 to 3 times a night with very low blood sugar. That is much better.

Almost every day I find something that upset reactive hypoglycaemia such as black tea!

Exercising, doing house chores, walking has to be within limits 🥵

I hope your hypoglycaemia is fully controlled…
