85% is the purest I've tried. Hard to imagine a 100% cocoa bar 😶 white chocolate reminds me of condensed milk which for some reason we were allowed as kids!

Milky Bar was the white chocolate I knew in childhood. It was slightly yellow in colour an had a weird taste all of its own. Fine quality bars of white chocolate I was gifted in my teens and early twenties didn't taste of anything. They had the texture of chocolate without the flavour.

I really like the 80% dark chocolate, just thought I'd give the 100% a try. It's only a 50gm bar and didn't cost much so not a lot wasted if its too bitter.

I wouldn't describe it as "bitter". That's what i enjoy in 90 % and 95 % bars.
Montezuma's Absolute Black bar, which is the only 100% chocolate i've tried tasted "muddy". Most of the bar was melted down with a lesser chocolate and used to top tiffin by a friend.

When I was a kid, my Dad bought me a bar of Bournville every Saturday. It was my introduction to dark chocolate.

I've left the chocolate at my partners house otherwise it would have been devoured days ago 🙃 I'll give it a whirl at Christmas.

I found the stuff about palm oil and vegetable butter really interesting, I actually saw a video today explaining that Nestle been told they can't say toffee crisps are covered in milk chocolate any more because they changed the recipe soo much that it no longer qualifies as chocolate 😮

You have reminded me of the pack of five Cadbury Twirls on an offer. Once open, I can't stop until the five bars are gone. I avoid them now!

Out-of-date chocolates may not have been stored in ideal conditions. Too hot and they 'bloom' and lose flavour.
I used to love these and they were pretty chocolatey! So they have changed that to a cheap flavoured-coating?
I'm happy to volunteer to do some chocolate investigation this Christmas…

So far, I've read that M&S Christmas chocolate biscuits are the tastiest - no surprise there - and Aldi's milk chocolate Santas came tops and contain no palm oil.
(B, I've changed my mind about sampling the stuff myself. I would need to buy loads then I'd want to eat it. You can see my dilemma 🤔)

Well @Zipz I can say that 100% is lovely. The look on my other half's face says it isn't for everyone but I dont care because I get the bar to myself..!

I love Guylian seashell chocolates but they're really expensive. Aldi's do a great alternative for half the price and they're delicious! 😍
