What would you pick for Christmas?

I think a lot of us aren't materialistic and I know when there's been these type of posts in the past we all go for things to make the world better or for other people, but you can't pick things like 'happiness' and 'health', it has to be actual physically purchasable things.

You don't have to follow this theme and can just answer however you like, but I've seen some people do 5 gifts for their kids which I thought was quite a sweet way to approach it. So if you could have anything, what would you pick for these?

    A surprise

If I had a magic wand it would be a lottery win to rid me of my situation and I'd get a nicer house all mine and nice furnishings

    A bungalow. But I don't think that'll fit in a stocking… 🧐

What kind of surprises do you like @Amberpearl?

It would have to be a very big stocking @OverlyAnxious but I'll be keeping everything crossed that you get some more suitable accomodation sorted next year ❤️ Having my own little space and garden was so life changing for me!

If money was no object I'd want a place to live that I owned, I don't like the idea someone could take my home away from me.

Something I want: A gingerbread house kit so I can try and make my own gingerbread house lol

Something I need: Socks! I hate how they feel and am so particular about socks but can't remember where I got the ones I like. I suppose socks is also in something to wear maybe

Something to wear: A new coat, mine is way too big now, it was big when I got it and now I could fit two of me in it 😅

Something to read: Ooooh I don't know, anytime I find something I want to read I get it from digital library or order online

A surprise: I think I'd want this the most. I actually love surprises, it's knowing thought has gone into something and someone was thinking of me if that makes sense?

I prefer my children and grandchildren coming to visit, to tell me about their day and laugh at stupid things. Much better than any presents. But if I was to pick off your list @Biblioklept I would choose something to read.

We've already done our Christmas together @Biblioklept, my daughter and her family are away on holiday and my son is working right through to new years eve, so we had our meal last week.

As for books I'll read anything really but the more gruesome the better.. I love a good murder 🤪

Something I want: I don't really want anything. I guess if I had to choose, some new clothes and definitely money. 😂

Something I need: Also some new clothes and money 😂

Something to wear: I've always wanted a pair of Dr Martins! I think I get that from Mum…

Something to read: I have some books by Virginia Woolf I need to get through so nothing new at the moment or I'll never get through them.

A surprise: Surprises are super fun.

But in seriousness, I'm just excited to see my Mum and Brother more than anything. I don't get to see them as much as I'd like so this time is really precious. And spending time with friends as well. 💛

I do love a good murder too @vikingqueen!! 😆 did you go out for a meal or did they all descend onto you?!

I love that @Holly_Scope - I’ve been trying to think how I could maybe see my dad over Christmas, I’m not sure just yet if he’ll be in care home or still in hospital but the only option would be a taxi and it’s over £200 a trip on normal time prices, can’t imagine Xmas 😆 I’d pay just about anything to see him though, time really is the most precious ❤️❤️

My house isn't big enough for 6 adults and 4 teens and a 7 year old, we go out. We do it every year and I foot the bill to thank them for all the help they give me. I'm at my happiest when we're all together, shame it's only once a year as the men work away a lot.

I'm glad it's not just me that could commit the perfect murder after reading the books I do !!

    Hi @Biblioklept

    • Something I want: I'd really like a new & more functional shower room. Can Santa please increase the width of my house so I could actually have a bath in there too?
    • Something I need: a decent pepper grinder, which is more realistic than the above
    • Something to wear: no particular thoughts about this as I have all I need
    • Something to read: I have plenty as you might guess!

Have you come across the author Simon Beckett @vikingqueen ? When we had a somewhat tatty copy of 'The Chemistry of Death,' because of it's poor state I didn't think it would sell, but was drawn in to read it, & I've been hooked on his novels about a forensics expert ever since!

Being around the people we love however is the best gift. I've made a Christmas dinner for my son & his wife anytime from mid December to Boxing Day as she often used to work on Christmas Day. Last year my son became unwell on Christmas Eve, so they just came around to collect their Christmas meal, as he didn't want to pass on any bugs to me. This year they're making a Christmas dinner for them & me, so hopefully we will have a lovely day together.

what kind of earrings do you wear @WhatThe? I’ve not worn any in years but put in some small studs this afternoon and was pleasantly surprised the holes hadn’t closed up!!
    I love a warm snuggly duvet ❤️

@onmylonesome I hope you find the friend of your dreams!! We all deserve a friend that understands us!!

@chiarieds, a bath is something I’d miss so much if I was without one!! If I could I’d absolutely magic the width of your house to accommodate one!! I hope a decent pepper grinder finds its way to you though! Sorry your family were ill last Christmas and I’ll be keeping everything crossed that this year you get to spend it with your son and his wife ❤️

@Chris75_ if the surprise is a tractor ride can you count me in?! 😆

I know a lottery win is probably a pathetic answer .

I have my own personal / private reasons why Ive chosen this .

It would be the answer to my personal prayers
