UC LCWRA and possible job question
hi all
am looking for some advice, I cannot get hold of Citizens advice on the phone so am looking elsewhere for information
very long story short, I am on LCWRA UC for mental health issues and have been out of work a long time, however through someone I know, I may have the possibility of a job, I may have an interview soon where we will see if it’s suitable. My question is, at what point do I have to tell UC about the job. I obviously would not start any work and still claim LCWRA as that’s not the right thing to do, but I would like to know at exactly what point am I required to inform UC? I’m getting ahead of myself here as I haven’t even had the interview yet so it may not be suitable for me right now. But do I have to tell UC if I’m offered a contract? On the first day of work? Would like to know when exactly, I don’t want to do anything incorrectly in the process. I appreciate your help

They'd need telling as soon as you officially and legally accept the job, before you actively start it,As long as it doesn't contradict your UC/ESA50 form on why you are lcwra they would look at your salary and work out if you're still entitled to UC and adjust your future payments accordingly.
Whether it would trigger a reassessment I'm not sure it's not an area I'm ofay with.
If you do not take/get the job then there's been no change in circumstances so again it's the moment you take it you must tell them.

I have received an offer of a job but it’s subject to background and security checks. I really need to know when exactly I need to tell UC about this and my LCWRA claim? I don’t want to do anything wrong0 -

I believe you should let UC know the start date if you are indeed offered this job.
As you have been found to be LCWRA, then, depending on your circumstances, there are 'work allowances' before any deductions to your UC due to any future wages would happen, i.e up to £411 a month if you get help with your housing costs, & £684 if you don't. Please see: after these work allowances, for every further £1 over these then 55p is deducted from your UC.

You only need to tell UC on the day you start work, you can't report a change in advance and it's not relevant to them until you work.

People can claim LCWRA and work, it's set up to allow you to work, which is why you get a work allowance when claiming LCWRA.
LCWRA isn't "can't possible work ever at all" it's acknowledging you have a limited capability for work and related activities, so will find it harder to find and keep suitable employment

thank you for the reply and comments I appreciate that.I have now actually been given a start date pending a dbs check which should be fine in theory.
I didn’t realise that with regards to LCWRA, I assumed you have to give up your LCWRA “status” if you like if you attempt any work
