Aww Kitty's carrier is awesome! I'm so pleased how things are coming along @StarryEyed. It must be a great feeling knowing you've got phase 1 done. 😊

600 Watts, though better than nothing, is not very much - even IF fully charged - do you have solar panels to charge it up ?
You really should try it - because IF there was an emergency and you need it - you will be all fingers and thumbs unless you know what you're doing…..is it charged up now ?

Sounds a weird one too, but think about mental health and boredom if something happens and have no electricity. So stockpiling on a few quiz magazines, general magazines or books and physical media.

I'm alot better thanks, I'm on a special diet now that I have been sticking too and have these special (horrible) drinks I have everyday to build myself up, but everyday I seem to feel more and more better.
Hope you're doing well.

They taste like a really really overly sweet milky/creamy white chocolate but with a bad aftertaste, I mix strawberry newquick in to take away the aftertaste but its so sickly, it makes me feel queezy after having it and have to have like 1 litre of it a day for a month. 🤮

Sorry if I sound dim, what's this about, sounds alarming

Hi @rubin16 Yes, you're a total sweetie, so I thought you were being sincere in your question. I have a physical map of my city, but never thought to pack one, so I'll do that. That's in the next phase of supplies, Phase 2. Thank you! What do you mean to have 3 words to pinpoint where I am? Your entertainment ideas are definitely going to be a part of my next phase, Phase 2. Thank you for your ideas!
Hi @Holly_Scope Yes, it's a great feeling to get Phase 1 done. Thank you for your encouragement!
Hi @Wibbles The 600 Watt lamps are actually too bright for me, as I prefer dim lighting. But if I need the whole room lit up (I live in a small apartment), they will do perfectly. I haven't tried the solar panels yet, as they would have to be done on the rooftop as there isn't enough light on my balcony to charge solar panels. Yes, it is fully charged now.
Hi @Catherine21 Have you tried the water purification tablets yet? I've never tried them or even heard of them. In case you or anyone else is interested, here are the kitty carrier and the lamps that I bought:
Hi @Andi66 I am preparing for typical emergencies in six phases. I have just completed phase 1. It is my hope that we can inspire each other here on the forum in our preparation.

@Andi66 also....
@Catherine21 is also preparing for emergencies but in a different way than me. Other than us two, no one else has chimed in to say they're doing it too.

Sorry I mean what 3 words, its another way to locate you or a certain area, every 3 metre squared of the world has been split up and given 3 simple words. Its a good way to locate you or something and emergency services and other services use it.

@rubin16 the three words for a location is a great idea. They're English words so they wouldn't use it in Spain. But it might catch on. Who knows what our future holds.
@Chris75_ I found them - water purification tablets. I'm hoping not to be around if it ever gets to the point of no clean drinking water. Fingers crossed! Thanks for the info! Your reply begs the question what the heck were you doing drinking water with these tablets?
@Catherine21 there definitely will be more coming. Emergency supplies are just flying off the shelves everywhere. It's quite unnerving.
I'm going to a New Year's Eve party tomorrow night and will be doing a quick presentation of my emergency lights collection, in the hopes of inspiring others to get thinking about this. I'll give an electric tealight as a gift to each person. It will hopefully be the first of many presentations on the topic of emergency preparedness. Yeah, my life is so boring that this is actually something that interests me. 😊

Apologies I completley forgot you live in spain, But it also works in spanish and all over the world in various languages.
Heres the spanish version:

Thanks all for your replies. I love having your company here! The emergency lighting presentation at the NYE part went great. There were only 10 of us - a perfect size. Some people want more info, so I'm going to do another presentation soon explaining the rest of Phase One. Then I'll start Phase Two. Here are the emergency LED lights I gave out as presents (the one in the front is what I wrapped up).
@rubin16 thank you so very much! That's very awesome!
@Catherine21 hopefully by getting things prepared you'll feel more secure. Do you have anyone helping you prepare IRL? I don't - yet.
@Chris75_ I never heard you were part of the Army Reserve. That's cool! Have you used that training to prep for emergencies? My brother did Navy Reserves in Canada, but he isn't interested in emergency prep. He is a retired teacher, so he's helping me with my presentations, which I really appreciate. My sister is a retired RCMP officer, but she's not interested either, other than having bought a generator for her house. My Mom isn't interested either. Maybe I can convince them at some point.

How is a campervan a solution to your fear of an emergency where you might lose everything?
Yes, it was a New Year's Eve party. I made a 10-minute presentation after supper. It was very enjoyable.

Hi @Santosha12 . What a treat to see you. 🥰
Thank you for your comments. Are you saying my approach is daunting or the topic is daunting? Or maybe both? It's a work in progress, with one of my major goals being to make it simple. That's one of the reasons I'm doing the presentations IRL. Feel comfortable just sitting back and watch it unfold. I have faith in this project being doable. We've booked the next presentation for January 14th.
I hope you're holding up okay and that you were able to enjoy the holidays at least to some extent. Huge hugs to you and your fur babies. 💘

Lovely that you've been helping a pigeon @Santosha12. I often think of Albus when I see them out and about. I even saw a board game with pigeons in it the other day and couldn't stop myself from buying it!
Do you have a local pigeon or wildlife rescue that might be able to help? Sometimes there'll be groups on Facebook or even if you just do a google search there might be something out there. We have one nearby that will collect birds and take them to a suitable rehab person, they've rescued quite a few poorly pigeons I've picked up. Hope your little pigeon friend recovers 💛

Brilliant @Santosha12, glad you found someone! I'm sure just offering it some warmth has helped it feel more comfortable whatever the outcome ☺️

Sorry to hear that @Santosha12. It's so easy to wish you acted sooner but you did what you could to help it. And as you say, I'm sure you made it feel more comfortable at the end of it's life with your kindness. 💛

@Santosha12 You've just set up an emergency plan for pigeons! 😁 How fitting for this thread.
Evacuation is my ultimate dread too, so it's the last phase.
Yes, the psychological impact of immobility is horrendous. So I'm hoping that setting up this emergency plan to make me ready and mobile is the perfect antidote.
What do you mean that you may lose your car (ABS gone)?

It is vitally important to be prepared, in so much as you can, for an emergency situation. I no longer have any pets to look after, or a partner anymore, so in a strange way I only have myself to look after - but I do make sure I am covered for all eventualities. I have lots of food that can be eaten cold and plenty of mineral water. My landline is an internet based system (I live in a digital flat) and there is a battery pack attached to my modem/router in case there is a power cut, and especially for my alarm should I fall over. My life has been a tad chaotic and I have been in a fire, a flood and an earthquake. So I do know how to be prepared!

Hi Chris and thanks for your help.
Hi Steve. Wow, what dreadful experience you have. Quite the resume!
Santosha, transportation is totally on topic. I don't have a car. So on my contacts list I have put in brackets my friends & family with keys and friends & family with a car. Yes, emergency preparedness is a very overwhelming challenge. Especially for those of us with physical and mental disabilities. That is why I have broken up the challenge into smaller bites. That is how I approach everything in life when the challenge is too big all at once. The reaction to not plan at all can be a perfectly natural response as well, as it can be the 'freeze' response within the fight-flight-freeze response.
