They will not automatically turn it into a ten year award. You will almost certainly get a PIP review form at some point before your current award end date.

While the review is taking place your normal PIP payments continue until a new decision is made, so you will still be classed as receiving PIP and your Pension Credit will carry on during that time.

Hopefully you will be given a light touch award. Whatever form you receive, treat it like any other review and give as much detail as you can, even if it looks like a simple tick box form. It really does help the decision maker understand your day to day reality. If they can see that your conditions are not likely to improve, a ten year award is certainly possible.

I have just downloaded my statement of entitlement which has todays date on it.

Thank you for asking for a copy of your PIP

    Statement of Entitlement.

You have been awarded PIP as follows:

The standard rate of the daily living component from

and including 14 July 2023 for an indefinite period.

The standard rate of the mobility component from and

including 14 July 2023 for an indefinite period.

No text messages, no phone calls and no review form!

What about Savings - Doesn't having savings affects Pension Credit ?

onmylonesome, I’ve just caught up with your message from yesterday. I was away for New Year and only got back last night.

Just one little thing to keep an eye on. The Pension Credit award running from January to September 2026 lines up with the review date on your original PIP letter. The online system showing an indefinite award is brilliant news, but it will not be fully official until you have written confirmation that the September 2026 review date has been superseded.

Once things are back to normal next week, it might be worth giving PIP a quick call and asking them to send you an updated award letter confirming the indefinite award. I am sure everything is fine, but sometimes the DWP systems do not quite keep up with each other. Having the updated letter will make it easier for Pension Credit to ensure their records match and remove the September 2026 date from their system.

Wishing you a happy New Year. It is all sounding very positive for you.

I was assuming they would send a confirmation letter, when I was online I also requested a letter to be sent out as well as the download.

When I receive a letter I will also contact pension credit so they can update their records.

Yes, but not considerably for most claimants. The savings threshold for PC is £10,000. Above that it gets reduced by £1 for every £500 of savings. There is no upper limit cut-off.

£500 if you are receiving guaranteed pension credit.
