UC payment on bank holiday in Scotland

I am supposed to be getting my next UC payment on 3 January but that’s on a weekend which means I should get it early on 2 January but unfortunately there are two bank holidays in Scotland which is New Year’s Day and 2 January which made me think I should of got my UC payment today 31 December but unfortunately I haven’t received an early payment. This is really annoying and I am panicking. I contacted DWP who told me that I should get my early payment sometime today but I always get paid first thing in the morning.

    The payment can arrive anytime up until 11:59pm, so it won't yet be classed as late even though your payments normally come through in the morning.

    Unfortunately, I didn’t get my early UC payment yesterday which was due 3rd January so it looks like I’ll be getting a late payment on Monday 5th January which I’m not happy about. If I was anywhere else in the UK I would of received it early on 2nd January but because I live Scotland and there is a bank holiday on 2nd January I have to wait for a late payment on 5 January.

    If the UC payment falls on a weekend or bank holiday, it's supposed to be paid on the nearest preceeding working day which for you was yesterday.

    As it didn't arrive, all you can do now unfortunately is contact UC tomorrow when the helpline should be open and ask why your payment is late.

    My first UC payment was due before 8pm 2nd January but it went into my bank New Year's Eve.

    I presume you are in Scotland too?

    This is strange how I didn’t get my UC payment yesterday like they told me I would when I contacted them unless it’s something to do with the bank I’m with.

    I’ll contact the help centre of UC tomorrow and see what the problem is.

    Good news. I was worrying over nothing. I still got paid my UC payment a day early even though it’s still a bank holiday up here in Scotland. So it looks like bank holidays in Scotland don’t affect DWP payments it’s only UK bank holidays that affect it. Shame nobody told me that but atleast I know now.
