Any Help
Hi everyone, just joined, any info or knowledge of my situation please ,my wife aged 75 died 1 week before christmas she was getting pip higher rate,I have been getting AA for 3 years age 70 , I have been disabled for 10 years but did not claim pip as my wife did ,but cannot now claim pip as I am over pension age , was not a problem before because I used my wifes mobility car for getting us both around, pip helpline said I might be able to claim pip retrospectively as my disabilities go back pre retirement, but DWP say no is this fact or can a claim be made in special circumstances , I am prepaired to cancel my AA if possible .

No new claims can be made for PIP over retirement age.

This is the correct advice unfortunately you cannot make a PIP claim if you are over State Pension Age.

Here's some information from Citizens Advice
- you’re getting Disability Living Allowance (DLA) - or it stopped in the last year
If this doesn't apply then I'm afraid you won't be able to apply for PIP.
Are you concerned about not having a car? Do you have anyone that could help you or are you able to use public transport?
