Morning all

I hope your all well?

I've just had a needs assessment done.

I'm absolutely gobsmacked by the social worker commenting on my possessions saying thats expensive, she also made comments about the flat isnt bad as she's seen worse .

There is a mess ever where. Flat hasnt been cleaned since corvid.

She then said your religious , you look good,

And in her opinion the place isn't bad she's seen places with feaces, urination .

She then said send me a list of your conditions and all she can do is get a 2 hour session cleaned and refer me to adult mental healthsocial worker as they have more money .

I feel I've wasted my time I had to contact the director to get this assessment done.

    Hi @hass

    I'm sorry to hear about this. It sounds like a really stressful experience. How do you feel about what you have been offered?

    If you feel that the assessment was not conducted properly or that your concerns were not addressed then you are well within your rights to complain and challenge the decision.
    Here is some more information on how to challenging or complain about social care that may be helpful.

    I thought the worker was highly unprofessional ,

    You can't judge people on the way they look or possessions they possess.

    Some cultures hygiene is part of faith.

    I told her there's a creepy in the bath she said it was a flower,

    It turns out its a mushroom growing

    I think in future I get some one present with me .

    I'm sick of people making assumptions on the way I look .

    Hi all .

    I haven't heard back from the social worker since my last post .

    This is the same predicament that occurs all the time.

    What should I do ??

    I'm on your side!

    My experience with Social Services hasn't been great either.

    Social Workers have huge case loads nowadays plus across the country recruitment is a challenge for SSD's which is why many SSD's now hire untrained people, give them an informal job title of 'social worker' then saddle them with a large caseload of clients. Its allowed because there is always a trained Social Worker in an oversight role.

    Everyone from service users to SSD's to GP's to Health Authorities to County Councils and even national politicians have been aware for a long time Social Care is in crisis (predominantly due to budget cuts and increasing demands on services) but as far as i can gauge there doesn't seem to be a plan in the pipeline to make meaningful changes.

    If a Burnham administration cannot fix Social Care (or at the very least shore it up whilst working on a root and branch overhaul) nobody will be able to fix social care.
