Advice with moving from lcw to LCWRA
hi, I have been on lcw for a few years now, I attended a meeting at the job centre and they said they require me to fill out another form and go through another assessment which I have done. I am now worried because I’m seeing all these posts that say if you qualify for lcwra and you’ve not provided fit notes that you will then not be given any back pay. Does anyone know what the answer to this is? Will I receive back pay? Just a few pointers, I did not add any new health conditions and I didn’t prompt filling in the form or having another assessment, this is something I was told I had to do. I have not provided fit notes since 2022 because when I was awarded lcw I was told specifically not to provide any new fit notes. Thankyou in advance

Hi @cat15432 as you’re already receiving LCW you shouldn’t need to provide fit notes. With the backdating element, if you are awarded LCWRA the DWP may not backdate if the change takes affect from the date of the new decision however if you are unhappy with the result of the decision, or backdated element you can dispute this.

Thankyou for your reply I’m unsure what you mean when you say “DWP may not backdate if the change takes affect from the date of the new decision” .. would you be able to explain please? I’ve gone on my journal and I fully understand what happened now. In 2023 I was asked to do a new WCA, I did and I sent it off and also was calling to check on the status because my work coach told me too.. in 2024 I called uc and expressed that I had not received any news and anytime I called they said it had arrived but it was being processed. The UC agent then said they will chase it up and they did and they got back to me in my journal and said they said they haven’t received it. ( they lost it) at my next uc meeting I explained to my work coach they had lost it and asked if I should fill in another one. I was told that I should wait just incase they locate it and also they need to prompt the wca so I waited, then in may 2024 I reported a change in health and in march 2025 I attended a uc meeting and they asked me to do another one and this is where I’m at now. Sorry for the paragraph but any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou for taking the time to read and reply to my last one.
