    @SwiftFox

    Awful! Awful! Awful!

    Shocking 😡

    "FORTUNATELY … Much has changed over the past 60 years. People with learning disabilities are generally treated decently and as human beings, and many are given support and opportunities to live their life as they want to. However, there is still much work to be done to improve opportunities and attitudes even more"

    I used to work in social care and met people who had grown up and spent decades in these "mental institutions". It's awful how society treated people not so long ago. Not just the disabled, but women who got pregnant out of wedlock, gay people etc. The thing is it is still happening. We just bury our heads in the sand. Care homes for the elderly e.g. - it's an utter disgrace how the whole system is operated.

    It was just the other day that I was thinking about this book @Chris75_ that I've been meaning to read for a long time. I couldn't recall the title or the author though. Cheers!

    I couldn't stomach the documentaries on that one @Chris75_ It's utterly horrible how human beings treated and still treat each other. Witch hunts, slavery, genocide, concentration camps… and the everyday little cruelties…

    I think I'm heading to Pets Corner now to get my daily dose of positive energy 😊
