UC Bank statement review - Just noticed I was overpaid this month
Hi all, I have a joint claim with my partner who works. We have both been asked to provide 4 months of bank statements. I went to get my statements for them and saw that I was massively overpaid/they didn't take my partners paycheck from that month into consideration and we had no deductions by mistake. This puts us over the 6k limit for savings.
What do we do? What can I say to them? I am now riddled with anxiety and worried we will be penalised or have UC stopped.
Thank you for any help or reassurance.

Good morning @baumaus. Can I ask, is your partner's pay date from work close to the end/start dates of your UC assessment periods?

Dates are all important here.
With regards to capital, it's your circumstances on the last day of your Assessment Period that matter, were you still over £6k in capital then?
What date was the wage paid, and what were the dates for the AP where you are concerned about a potential overpayment?
Your partners pay date might not have fallen inside of the Assessment Period you are worried about.

Hi Adrian, no, they are about two weeks apart.

Hi Kimi, no we were not over the threshold on the last day of the assessment period.
My partner was paid on the 13th of Feb, and the overpayment happened on the 3rd Feb.

With regards to capital as you were under £6k on the last day of your Assessment Period, there is nothing to be concerned about.
What are your Assessment Period dates?
What was your partners pay date in January?
A pay date of 13th Feb would apply to your current AP not any past AP's.
