Im left handed. In years gone by in schools if u were left handed they would smack u very hard with a ruler until u wrote with ur right hand. By the way if left handers were to have a stroke they would tend to come out better then right handers. As if we where to have a stroke the left side of ur head would take over the right, were the right hand people cant do that

When j was at school the teacher had to put my work up in front of a mirror so she could read it as instead of writing left to right, I wrote right to left

That's strange, I've never understood stuff like this, I mean what on Earth does it matter which hand you write with? And surely if you make someone write with the hand they don't write with then their writing is going to be a mess and so it just makes things worse.

Lefty here too! Wow, I cannot believe schools used to do that @gothchick56. It just doesn't make sense to punish someone for writing with their left hand! Does anybody else write sideways as well? Only way to avoid getting ink all over my hand.

I'm right handed, however I do hold my pen really funny. I remember back in primary school, the teachers put these rubber triangles on my pens and pencils to try make me write correctly. It didn't work and I still hold my pen really weird to this day.

I'm digitally artistic but not drawing in person, I am really good at graphic design and can draw via a mouse but not a pen/paintbrush. My dad is fantastic at painting though, and has a sideline job where he paints models/figures for people.

Hey Catherine, I hope your well my lovely,

Its so interesting to me that you mention this, as it was only the other day that I was reading up on Leonardo da Vinci's story about his "Mirror Writing" and in particular, his "Codex Leicester book" that sold for $30.8 million in 1994, a 72-page notebook written in mirror script.

He was also left handed, and when you mentioned the bit about "being burned on the stake" prompted my memory to a part I read about him writing this way, partly to hide his thoughts and ideas from the church, who at the time would have opposed a lot of his ideas
