I hate to be pedantic but you need a car to have driving lessons! I want one myself but the stupid DVLA says I'm medically disqualified from driving due to my disabilities.

@hass the Motability website doesn’t explain any of this very clearly, so it’s a fair question.

You can apply for help with lessons through a Motability grant if you lease a car and you’re learning so you can eventually drive it yourself, rather than always relying on someone else to drive you.

Driving lessons are expensive these days, but most driving schools offer a reduced rate if you block book, so that might be worth looking into.

Hi thanks for that , but I don't want to lease a car .

I did take lessons about 30 sone years ago but he started shouting after that I lost confidence.

I don't think I could afford it I need to do it for my self and get more independent.

My health is getting worse .

Everything is stand still again its a terrible cycle

    https://www.disability-grants.org/funding-for-driving-lessons.html

It's grey area, as reading. it also says if you are:

Motability may be able to help with the cost of driving lessons if:

    • You are already a customer of the Motability Scheme or you are awaiting delivery of a new Scheme vehicle with a confirmed delivery date no more than four months from the date of the application for driving lessons; and
    • You receive one of the following: a means-tested benefit, such as Income Support, Income-related Jobseekers Allowance, Pension Credit (Guarantee Credit), Housing Benefit, Council Tax Benefit, Income-related ESA or Working Tax Credit or Universal Credit; or
    • You are in full-time education or training (aged up to 25 years of age) and you or your parents/guardians receive one of the means-tested benefits listed above. Full-time education is defined as education undertaken in pursuit of a course, where a substantial period of each week is spent receiving tuition, engaging in practical work, receiving supervised study or taking examinations. Training is defined as an unpaid Apprenticeship.

    Hi all

I've managed to speak to motablity.

Unfortunately I cannot go ahead with the free driving lessons as I need to lease a car and would need to add a driver on the scheme
