Eastenders is the best one for me any day

Years ago I used to love eastenders. Then it went rubbish so stopped watching it. Corrie I used to watch religiously. Wouldn't have missed it for the world. Till that drawn out saga with the policewoman who's name I forget and the back from the dead other policewoman. Just stopped watching it and don't miss it. Emmerdale I still watch but another back from the dead storyline? Come on scriptwriters! There's a lot of tv programmes to watch but I'm not sure they realise that. And while I'm grumbling( you did say it was a soapbox!😁😁) how many soap characters do people actually like? For me in corrie it was just Roy and Evelyn. I was finding a lot of them unlikable. In emmerdale? Kim I like , Charity , can't think of many more to be honest. Although I did like Robert's ex husband( can't think of his name now) . Think the scriptwriters could have done a lot with the character

I know it'll probably never happen but I'd love them to bring back Neighbours, and not just for all the rather attractive women, even some of the older ones such as Jackie "Susan" Woodbourne are gorgeous.

Whoops…I thought this was a new thread to talk about politics, religion & other hard topics…my mistake! 😉
Many moons ago I got tired of soaps. Corrie was better for Ena Sharples & Elsie Tanner. Emmerdale Farm, lost interest after the plane crash, as poor Archie was lost & never spoken of. Eastenders, Den & Angie got way too much!
But….always loved Crossroads, shame the comeback didn't quite hit the badness of the original. Ooh & David Hunter! 😍 Sorry, I'll put m'coat on & leave now…

Eastenders is my favourite right now i think @Strawberry1
I think its so cool that Margot Robbie was on Neighbours for a bit @SheffieldMan1976!!
Charity is one of my favourite characters in Emmerdale too @birdwatcher! I also really like Moira, do you like her? I agree with you on the back from the dead storyline, I don't like it either!!
The storyline between the two policewomen is over now, it seems to be a lot about Shona/Jodie/David at the moment and the storyline of the teacher grooming the young boy.
Hahahah @JessieJ maybe I should've thought the title through a bit more🤣 I've never watched Crossroads, which soap was it similar too?
I never watched Brookside either @Amberpearl, which soap was it most similar too?0 -
Brookside was in Liverpool and was the same as emmerdale corrie and eastenders
Lots of gritty stories
It's on stv now
Showing every episode from 1982
Worth a look

Carla and Lisa have a new storyline starting next week apparently, I won't spoil it but it involves a very young baby.

Oooh I haven't seen anything about that yet @SheffieldMan1976!! Sounds like it could be a very interesting storyline and plot

Ricky Tomlinson, he was equally famous for playing Jim in the Royle Family, which also starred Sue Johnston, fka Sheila Grant, as his wife Barbera, and the late Caroline Aherne as daughter Denise, she and the guy who played her partner Dave, also wrote the show.

Love the idea of having dedicated spaces for each show so fans can chat and share opinions about the latest episodes. It makes it easier to keep discussions organised and lets people connect with others who follow the same soaps. Hope it brings more engagement to the community.

After being addicted to EastEnders for almost 30 years - I managed to wean myself off watching it completely a few years ago and now, I have absolutely no idea what is going on and who the actors/actresses are….

I used to watch Eastenders, Coronation Street and Hollyoaks, until about 15 years ago first to go was Hollyoaks. I was over 6 months behind and snapped that I was never going to catch up so deleted the lot! Eastenders went about 8 years ago for the same reason. Now I’m only keeping pace with corrie but I’m getting increasingly annoyed with the storylines they are often very predictable and are now being driven by “issues” corrie was never driven by issues, yes occasionally they’d tackle something challenging and yes I realise they are trying to attract a much younger audience because in 20 years time if they fail to do this now they could be in a position with no audience at all however they’re missing the point that younger people, ie those under 35 are no longer watching television in the same way, Netflix, YouTube and TikTok for instance and much like Chopper bikes, Wimpy bars and video cassette recorders, soap operas may ultimately be consigned to history.
I’m off now to watch last night’s Coronation Street.
