Very poignant @Catherine21, I had a dream about my Matilda the other night, first time ever since she passed in Jan 2016. Did you keep any of Fifi's belongings?

I've still got Matilda's clothes which I'm thinking of making something out of them but I don't know what! And a great big piece of leather which is basically, settee sized, from when I got a new settee and I took all the leather off my old one to keep. It has an indentation where she sat for all her 12.5 years.

Did you finish your shrine to Fifi in your garden or have you more to do? Xx

Even though my 3 dogs passed in 2016 and 2017 I still think of them every day and miss them. Their caskets are on my piano in my bedroom, I always say good morning and goodnight to them, well, have forgotten occasionally and then apologise the next day ๐Ÿซ ๐Ÿ˜. Think my current 4 wonder who I'm talking to but I have shown them the parchment paper they're in so maybe they do know. They were an important part of my life for so long, I promised them they'd never be forgotten and they never will be.

    I miss my cats terribly.

I've never got over losing them and I have their ashes in little casks on my book shelf.

They brought me such great love and for that I am forever grateful.

    I'm so sorry Catherine.

We never get over them but given time we learn to live without them.

We can only take each day at a time.

Sometimes the sorrow is unbearable and thats a natural part of the grieving process. X

@Catherine21 amidst your grief, you are always so steadfastly kind to everybody else Catherine - what a wonderful trait of character and generosity of spirit to have. Not everybody has that and can have so much to learn from you. Always just be you Catherine, you are enough as you are !! Xx ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿ˜

It took me a lot longer than 6 months to 'get over' the loss of my three. I don't think we ever really do. I wasn't going to get any more but, as you know, have my 4 now aged 9 and 10 - they're as important to me, and as much loved, as any 'human' children I could ever have had. I hope that for you, and Fifi's memory, you are able to share your home, life and love with another, when the time feels right for you. I dread the grief I've yet to come but will never regret having my 4 who bring me the greatest joy, unconditional love and loyalty that nothing or nobody else ever could. Thinking of you Catherine in your sadness and sorrow of your loss. I believe my three are still around me, I'm sure Fifi is for you, there's no stronger bond xx

You will always have my support Catherine. When my sister told my elder sister that Jack had died (he was 15) her response was what did she expect at his age. Nice. She ignored when Matilda died unexpectedly 4 days later. I give no time or thought, whatsoever, to unkindness in whatever form it takes but especially to animals and pet loss. You were very lucky having young Fifi, but so was she, as you've a heart of gold and I'll bet, without a doubt, her life was filled with love every single day that she'd have felt and known deeply. Remember that as I expect it will shine on a 'new' pet one day xx
