2 child cap help with my universal credit
Hello
Can someone explain the 2 child cap to me and also what is meant to be changing to it? I think I saw they are lifting the cap, does anyone know when and will that mean I receive money for all of my children?
With the current cap does my statement look correct?

Hi @dannieC and welcome to the community! Here's some information for you From April, you can claim child benefit for every child. So in your case, you would receive the benefit for all 7 of your children. It should happen automatically but if it doesn't, get in touch with them.
You're currently getting support for 3 children which suggests that a child qualifies for a 'special circumstance'. There's some more information about that here .

I get 400 a month to live off from uc to pay all bills and live and people get 400 each and then 300+ per kid, the kids add some extra to bills sure but not nearly the same amount as running a whole house
and 300x7 = £2100 there's no way it costs that amount, plus 400 for them on top it dont seem fair

Are you not getting PIP as a muscular dystrophy sufferer ( like me).
All i would say about child benefit, is that an innocent child shouldn't be punished, just for being born.
I was working full time when my daughters were very young, and i remember being very glad of tax credits and child benefit.

You can always claim Child Benefit for every child, the two-child cap doesn’t apply to that. It only applies to the child element of Universal Credit (and some legacy benefits).
@dannieC , it’s not possible to say whether the 3 out of 7 is correct without knowing more about your children’s ages and whether any exemptions apply.

i get low care pip and no mobility even though i use powerchair full time now, i dont understand it people get mobility because they're depressed but i dont for MD, system is rigged. Uc gave me lcw so i have to have calls twice a month to discuss my plans to work which is a waste of everyones time
I dont begrudge the mum claiming at all, i did when i worked too but it was tax credits back then, just feel like the amounts are wrong and i dont get how the government comes up with its numbers.

I expect that like me, you just took what award you were given? I got standard care and enhanced mobility a number of years ago (can't remember), and have never bothered to query it.
It is only since I started reading on here, that I realise you have to kick up a fuss and do appeals etc, in order to get taken seriously.
When I next get assessed, I will expect expect to be on enhanced for both, or I will appeal it. I too am using a powerchair, and have nobody to help me.
