New Mobility Agreements

We are a mobility user, we have a wav vehicle for our daughter. We have received a letter/email from mobility with the new changes for new orders from July 2026 and these are absolutely awful for any WAV users. They are restricting mileage to 10k miles per annum with a 25p per mile excess charge, also restricting the number of tyres to 10 for the duration of the agreement. Our mileage would certainly be over the 10k mile PA that they are suggesting due to taking our daughter to school and attending hospital appointments, so we would certainly be a victim of the new changes. This is awful practice from Mobility and I'm hoping we have some representaion to fight this treatment. We are getting penilised for other Mobility users that don't have the complex needs of a WAV. My advice is ensure you have a copy of your current agreement with your documentation and if you have a replacement due, get your orders in before July 2026.

10 tyres? Surely 2 sets plus a possible two unrepairable punctures will see you through a 5 year lease? At least two sets of tyres at 10,000 miles a year should be adequate?

It must be quite a struggle leasing a WAV. I need one but you will be well aware of the eye watering advance payment. Have you ruled out purchasing a second hand vehicle?

You will be surprised how a modifyed vehicle uses tyres, our current vehicle as a hydraulic lift which is heavy, will wear tyres a lot quicker than a car. This will be our last mobility deal, after the next 5 years our daughter will finish education and as you suggested will look to buy a second hand wav

I can't speak for everyone - but I know our annual mileage is more than 10k, so we would automatially be using more tyres due to the mileage so would need to pay extra. We have already paid a large upfront payment as this has increased significantly this year, together with losing the mobility benefit. Its an expensive form of transport these days but we are in the trap of having to pay the price.

The costs of a severe physical disability are no joke, especially when public transport is so patchy, and we can't all access it in any case.

Some have no idea, and can only grumble about no BMWs etc.

We drove out of the dealership with a screw in the tyres on collection, dealer refused to see to it and it had to go kwikfit. Normal mobility is now 6 tyres over 3 years. Typical ours is due to changed in November and I am expecting deposits to significantly increase.

If a dealership are faced with a puncture, they will run it up to the tyre shop anyway. I imagine they would argue that the screw embedded in the tyre, after you left their forecourt.

We literally pulled off the forecourt and the tyre pressure warning came on. We parked up outside of the garage and they refused to even help. Needless to say we won’t be using them again.

For reference, this is not the garages fault, it is the way Motability is set up.

Kwikfit have the contract with Motability to make tyre repairs for Motability cars.

oh I am aware it was just so ironic that we had literally left the garage when the light came on. It is what it is, we are still very grateful for motability. It’s a lifeline for our daughter.

We live rurally and hubby go to works, plus he has hospital appointments in the next county. There's no way the mileage will be under 10k. ....... unless we dont visit family, go out, go shopping etc

It has taken him 40+ years to finally get any help and now its just a punch in the teeth

If this video correct its going to be a lot worse for Mobility drivers. Black box's for ever one.

If that is the case, you can thank those that abuse the scheme, they spoil it for everyone else. But anyway, if an individual is using the vehicle for the intended purpose, they should have nothing to worry about.

If everyone used the vehicle for its intended purpose, there would be no need for any sort of tracking device, but we don't live in an ideal world, unfortunately.
